BOREHOLE DRILLING REQUIREMENTS IN KENYA
Before beginning the process of drilling a borehole in kenya, one requires licenses from different relevant authorities. One first needs to do a hydro geological survey and get a report. Then apply for a drilling permit from Water resource Management authority (wrma). The next step after this, is Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) - get the approval/Licence from NEMA
WRMA BOREHOLE PERMIT
WRMA is an Agent of the National Government responsible for regulating the management and use of water resources.You will need an abstraction license from WRMA. You can apply the license after doing proper hydro geological report
NEMA BOREHOLE PERMIT
Before you get a NEMA approval License, you will have carry out a successful Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) for the proposed site and take the reports to NEMA office for approval .Section 9(i) of EMCA mandates the Authority to exercise general supervision and coordination over all matters relating to the environment and to be the principal instrument of the Government of Kenya in the implementation of all policies relating to the environment.
